News-New initiative by Bihar Industrial Association and Impact: Destination Bihar 2011   2 comments

The Expo was organised to showcase the huge potential of Bihar, which is endowed with rich natural resources and huge human resources. Chairman, organizing committee, Destination Bihar-Expo 2011, K P Jhunjhunwala said that Bihar’s rich natural and human resources could be utilized to increase its present GDP growth rate of 14.5%.

Jhunjhunwala, co-chairman of the organizing committee Nisheeth Jaiswal and BIA president K P S Kesri said that the quality of life of Biharis would improve only when a network of industries is created to get maximum gain from agriculture and other avenues.

Jhunjhunwala said that a number of industrialists and entrepreneurs from all over the country were submitting proposals for setting up ventures in the state. Local entrepreneurs have already invested Rs3,600 crore in the state, he said and added that the Destination Bihar-Expo 2011 is being organized to attract entrepreneurs and other stakeholders to deliberate how to synergize all efforts to take Bihar into the development mainstream, said Kesri.

For the Expo, the BIA has given priority to agriculture, agro-based industry, energy, tourism and hospitality management for both industrial and social growth.

Destination Bihar Expo-2011 on Tuesday stressed on the need for confidence-building measures, so that entrepreneurs could set up micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to make full use of the new Bihar Industrial Incentive Policy and Food Processing Policy.

It was felt that the negative attitude of different government departments in giving purchase preference to local industries discouraged the entrepreneurs.

The managing director of Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA), Anshuli Arya, said that the situation was ripe for accelerating industrial growth, particularly in food processing sector, in Bihar, which is endowed with fertile soil, water and suitable climate. However, scarce land and power problem were the hindering factors, which were being looked into.

Director, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Institute ( MSMEDI), D K Singh, said that the state government’s departments were imposing a certain turnover eligibility criteria for taking part in the tender process. This excluded local small industries, having lesser turnover, from the tender process. The government departments had given a go by to the State Purchase Preference Policy for giving seven per cent price preference in purchase of products of the local enterprises. This resulted into a stunted growth of industries in Bihar, he said.

Singh pointed out that the Union government gives 15% price preference for purchasing MSMEs’ products.

A senior manager of National Research Development Corporation (NRDC), Govind Sharma, told the entrepreneurs present that the NRDC scientists were doing scientific research for providing innovative technologies for application in industries. NRDC also provided finance for transfer of technology to the industries. Its technology innovations are on display at the NRDC’s stall at the Expo.

BIA secretary general Sanjay Goenka claimed that the implementation of industrial policy in the state was slow as there was delay in providing subsidy to the industries.

The Expo is being organized jointly by the Bihar Industries Association and New Wave Display Services, Kolkata.

With the State Industrial Promotion Board (SIPB) cumulatively approving investment proposals worth Rs2 lakh crore for setting up industries in Bihar, the Bihar Industries Association (BIA) is celebrating the centenary of Bihar by organizing ‘Destination Bihar-Expo 2011′ at Veterinary College ground here from December 12 to 18.

The weeklong programme includes celebration of Industry Day on December 13, Agriculture day on December 14, Women Empowerment Day on December 15, Tourism Day on December 16 and Infrastructure Day on December 17.

JPSC 2011 Results: whats wrong @ sindri?   3 comments

Riddled with corruption, the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) assured the prospective candidates of correcting the anomalies in questions and their answers and published a corrected model answer sheet. But even the so-called corrected model has many discrepancies and candidates, who could not make it to the written test, are blaming the authorities for deliberately doing it for favouring the candidates of their choice. BPSC 2011 53-55th PT exam result: Justice Tripathi is on leave Sire!   9 comments

What a mess, pity! The year gone by is miserable to candidates appeared in BPSC and JPSC, now news against UPSC as well (will update you on that soon!).

Asking at court premise about BPSC court verdict is matter of laugh here!  ”Sarr, yeh BPSC ke Result Ka kuchh nahi ho sakta!’ Says ‘TAYIID’ Mr. Ram with a chin to eyes smile.

The Patna High Court on Thursday(01/12/2011) reserved its order after hearing pleas of both the sides in a case related to the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC). Some candidates have filed a petition in the HC requesting it to look into the discrepancies in the question papers of the 53rd-55th combined Common Preliminary Competitive Examination held in April this year. JPSC 2011 Revised Results another Havoc!   1 comment

I do not understand, was it a curse on BPSC and JPSC aspirants who appeared for 2011 public service commission exams in these states. It’s really ruthless and unfair story to tell. Let me start exploring Havoc at JPSC 2011 PT ( 4th) exam first:

What is the age for voting in India? Ask this question to anyone and pat comes the reply 18 years. But this may be a wrong answer, if Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) experts are to be believed.

The age for voting in India is 28 years. No joke, this is the answer for question no 99 in set C of the political science paper related with voting age displayed on the website of the JPSC.

Not only this, if the JPSC experts are to be believed, the World Trade Organization came into being in 1990 (answer to question no. 74 in the same set) and not in 1995 as is commonly known.

BPSC UPSC Mains 2011 HOT TOPIC-II: 10 Status of Indian cities- Patna comes AA-under Tier-II   1 comment

Public Service Commission preparation

Public Service Commission preparation

Metros are basically regarded as Tier I cities, relatively smaller cities are regarded as Tier II cities whereas smaller cities are considered as Tier III ones. Here is the explanation why they are considered so:-

As Indian economy experiences the boom in all sectors triggered by its economic and investment policies, the metros or the Tier I cities are the ones that are inundated with burgeoning investments in the industrial and the services sector. Along with large-scale investments has boomed the realty sector creating congestion, arising out of an increasing demand for residential and commercial properties. This congestion in realty structures has forced the respective governments and many investment companies to seek out for alternative smaller cities leading to a demand for Tier II and III cities. BPSC UPSC Mains 2011 HOT TOPIC-II: 9 Durban 2011 climate talks the outcome   1 comment

Public Service Commission preparation

Public Service Commission preparation

Political will for the capitalisation and operation of a climate adaptation fund would represent positive progress!

The UN climate change talks in Durban Sunday arrived at a four-pronged Durban Package to save the planet by controlling emission of greenhouse gases.

The main outcome of the Durban talks:

* To extend the Kyoto Protocol: To extend for another five years the Kyoto Protocol – the only regime to combat climate change, that is due to end 2012. The parties to Kyoto are divided into two camps – Annex 1 countries – rich countries who are supposed to take legally binding emission cuts – and the non-Annex 1 nations — developing countries who have to make voluntary cuts. The second term of the Kyoto protocol will begin Jan 1, 2013.

* Long-Term Cooperation (LCA) actions: These are the long term collective action by countries to fight climate change. At the Durban talks, India scored a major victory when the LCA text accepted India’s demand of equity — or equitable access to sustainable development for developing countries without being hindered by emission cuts. The LCA text recommendations have to be debated before the next meet.

* Green climate fund (GCF): During the 2010 Cancun meet, rich countries agreed to provide $100 billion as GCF to help poor countries take measures to adapt to climate change. Though there is no money, a committee has been set up to start the process of figuring out contributions from countries.

* It has been agreed that the fund will be controlled by the conference of parties (CoP) to the climate convention. It will have 24 members, equally from developed and developing countries.

* Future of the Climate Change Regime: The Durban conference agreed to launch a process to develop a ‘protocol’, or come out with a new treaty under which all the countries will have to take legal emission cuts. It was agreed that the new regime should be completed by 2015, so that this new agreement can be implemented from 2020.

The Highlight:

At Cancún in 2010, developed countries pledged $100bn a year by 2020 towards the Green Climate Fund (GCF) to help developing nations adapt to the effects of climate change – but little of that has yet materialised, with delivery mechanisms still to be decided.

The aviation and shipping sectors could prove central to this funding effort. Analysis commissioned by G20 finance ministers has shown that applying a carbon price to international transport fuels would both reduce emissions and generate billions of pounds for the GCF.

JPSC revisits 4th PT Model answersheets , 03 Nov 2011   1 comment

According to Jagran bureau sources, JPSC revisits model answer sheets, as it accounts for major issues. Mainly in Social science (more than 20 answers were wrong) and Political science model answer-sheet has most of the mistakes.

Answer received on the issued from the Ratikant Jha was even more suspicious, he Says” Questions are set by specialists and even they decides on answers, what can JPSC do on such mistakes?”

Really not acceptable JPSC. Improvise you PR please.

Jharkhand Public Service (JPSC) REVISED results for 4th PT 2011   57 comments

Jharkhand Public Service (JPSC) has released the revised result of 4th PT examination. You may see it in tomorrow leading newspapers.  Here is a copy of PDF files selected roll number. It is noteworthy here that the result has come out despite the fact that new revised model answer had several errors in it.

BPSC 2011-53rd 55th PT revised results will be announced soon!   15 comments

After Tuesday session court hearings, it look more murkier than ever that what will be next step for the result declaring. However, one thing is clear that just by including 588 students to the declared result will not resolve this conflict.

therefore, I caution you all that BPSC 2011-53rd 55th PT revised results will be announced soon, and your name may go missing if the stance of BPSC changes before Thursday, 1st December 2011.

You may have noticed that there are more than 200 court cases filed at the court and combined hearing is conducted. Even though the applicant lawyer is requesting not to remove 915 successful candidates from the declared list, BPSC is planning not to accept this arbitration as of now. This is based on the background that BPSC does not want this episode to repeat that “just by going to court will solve the problem”.

Moreover, we are waiting for Thursday hearing for BPSC stance on this issue. Read the rest of this entry »

BPSC Mains 2011 HOT TOPIC-II: 6 Sustainable success of business in India.   29 comments

Public Service Commission preparation

Public Service Commission preparation

Business leaders today need to achieve success in the face of fierce global competitive pressure and uncertainty. The paradox of our times is that focus on securing economic returns has become the least reliable way of achieving business success. The very drivers of value creation are changing as key links in the value chain, such as natural resources and human talent, become scarce. CIMA and Tomorrow’s Company have started a unique journey to explore the future and purpose of business, researching the development of leadership, future talent, the co-creation of value, business accounting, sustainability and integrated reporting.

Irrespective of the size and nature of an organization, the board should aim for the long-term, sustainable success of the company. They are engaged in approving, monitoring and determining the short and long-term strategy of the business, an effective business model and, most importantly, the risk management strategy of the business. The ability to make quality decisions regarding strategic development, risk assessment and risk mitigation, appropriate resource allocation, and talent management are some of the key skills that leaders of today must demonstrate. A board leading by example, and aligning the short and long-term business strategy to the vision, mission and values of the organization, will successfully influence customers, stakeholders, management and shareholders.

This unprecedented change in the demands of leadership over the last 10 – 15 years has been created by social and technological change, by globalization and a growing concern for the future of our planet. We are now at a turning point in the 21st century. The context in which companies now operate is a triple context – where future and enduring business success will rely on understanding and responding to the links between the economic, social and environmental sub-systems and the opportunities.

Thus, there is an increasing requirement for leaders who will prioritize the stakeholders of their organisations (customers, employees, suppliers, the community, the planet, and the shareholders), rather than personal reward, and personal power and prestige. Read the rest of this entry »

BPSC Mains HOT TOPIC II- 5 India’s 2009 Election results an introduction   2 comments

Public Service Commission preparation

Public Service Commission preparation

India’s electorate emphasized political stability and governance coherence in the 15th national elections in 2009. Predictions of a fragmented electorate and party system emboldened small groups to envision obtaining power in third and fourth fronts emphasizing regional, caste, ideological, and personality considerations. Instead, the Congress Party gambled successfully on a minimum rather than a maximum1winning coalition.

The Congress initially allied with a few partners in its minimal winning coalition, so as to highlight the Congress Party rather than the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) coalition label. This successful strategic gamble provided more coherence, clearer messages, and a revitalizing leadership. Lacking only 10 seats for a majority, the UPA coalition quickly attracted other parties for a comfortable 2 majority (see Table 1.1 for Lok Sabha results by party, Table 1.2 for coalition formations, and 1.3 for party symbols).Prime Minister Manmohan Singh signifies integrity, continuity, and competence in the 2009 campaign, which contrasts sharply with contestants burdened by criminal charge sheets. More than one-quarter of the elected Members of Parliament (MPs) fall into this category. And that does not include major criminal/political figures failing to win 3seats.  Party and Alliance leader Sonia Gandhi, in addition, represents dynastic continuity. It now is a long chain stemming from Motilal Nehru to his son Jawaharlal Nehru, to Jawaharlal’s daughter Indira Gandhi, other son Rajiv Gandhi, and now to Rajiv’s wife Sonia Gandhi.
